Facilities at Daulat Ram College

Library and Reading Room

Library and Reading Room facilities are open only to students and staff of the college.

The college possesses an excellent collection of books, journals/periodicals in the library. The Library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For loan purpose the books are categorized into three sections: General Section, Reserved Section and Reference Section.

Library

Loan Privileges

  • Each Honours course student will be entitled to borrow five books on loan.
  • Each B.A., B.Se. & B.Com. student will be given four books on loan.
  • Each M.A. student will be entitled to borrow six books at a time.
  • The Library membership will be valid till the student leaves the college.

Timings for Issue and Return of Books

  • Books from General Section are issued and returned from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
  • Timings for issue of books from Reserved Section are from 12.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.
  • Books from Reference Section are only issued for consultation in the library against Reference Card from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Terms and Conditions for Loan

  • Before leaving the counter, the member should satisfy herself as to whether the book lent to her is in sound condition and if not, she shall immediately bring the matter to the notice of the Librarian otherwise she is liable to be held responsible for the replacement of the book by a sound copy.
  • Periodicals, directories, encyclopedias, which might be difficult to replace and other such works as may be declared reference books by the Librarian shall not be lent out.
  • Members are not allowed to sub lend the books of the library.
  • Students who return books later than the due date will be liable to pay a fine as decided by the college authorities from time to time.
  • Fine for general section books is Re. 1.00 per day for first fifteen days. Thereafter it will be Rs. 5.00 per day for one month after which the fine will be Rs. 10.00 per day. Fine for Reserved Section books is Rs. 2.00 per day for one week and thereafter it is Rs. 10.00 per day.
  • Any infringement of the rules will deprive the member of the privilege of admission to and of borrowing books from the library.

Book Bank

This section of the library is meant for students who cannot afford to buy text-books. A student can borrow books from the section and keep them till the end of the session. Books borrowed from the book bank must be returned the day after the University Examinations are over. The final year students have to return the books at the time of clearance.

Laboratories

The College has well equipped and well managed laboratories for all the Science Courses offered viz. Bio-Chemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Physics and Zoology. The Departments of Nutrition & Health Education and Psychology also have separate well equipped labs.

Computer Labs

The College has a well equipped Computer Labs with Pentium machines with the latest configuration. The Labs have connectivity with the Delhi University intranet with access to the internet. The main computer lab has 38 computers and there is an additional computer lab for commerce students having 25 computers with internet facility.

Seminar Room

The Seminar Room of the College is the location for multifarious activities in the College through out the year. The activities in the seminar room range from curricular and co- curricular seminars, lectures, debates, discussions and workshops to student union functions, NSS and Women Development Centre activities.

College Auditorium -Sadbhavana Bhavan

Bigger functions and inter-college events are held in the imposing college auditorium Sadbhavana Bhavan which has a large stage and a seating capacity of about 1300. Its stage is ideally suited for theatre activities and dramatics with plays having a large cast.

Medical Aid

Medical room facility is available with common medicines and an attendant nurse. The students can also avail of the World University Health Service of the University of Delhi against the nominal annual fee of Rs.5/-.

College Canteen

The College canteen offers a varied menu at subsidised rates. Students are welcome to give suggestions for further improvements to the Convenor, Canteen Committee.

Bank

The College has banking facilities on its premises. The University Branch of Indian Overseas Bank operates in the College.

Placement Cell

The Placement cell of the college aims at creating awareness of career opportunities available for the final year students of the college. It arranges placement seminars, interactive recruitment sessions and workshops conducted by various national and International companies and Organizations.
The college placement cell also coordinates with the central placement cell of the university, which acts as an interface between the industry and University by creating a data base of eligible students as well as companies.
Some of our students were recruited on Campus by Ernest & Young, other notable industries. Some students were awarded the Gandhi fellowship for two years.

Hostel

The college has excellent hostel facilities including fully air-conditioned rooms, with an intake capacity of 200 students. It is open only for the undergraduate students of the College. Only those students whose parents do not reside in Delhi are eligible for admission to the Hostel. Admission is based on merit. Students seeking admission to the hostel have to apply on the prescribed form available in the Hostel office. For other details the Hostel Prospectus should be consulted.
