The honours course in Botany is a fine blend of various facets of plant world. Keeping in mind the recent developments in Plant Sciences the department facilitates learning in classical and modern aspects of Botany. In the present year the students will be seeking admission to the three year semester course which offers wide range of papers in various fields of Botany such as Phycology, Microbiology, Phytopathology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Genomics,Biotechnology, Plant Systematics, Phytogeography, Developmental and Seed Biology, Plant Physiology, Ecology and Environmental Management, Bioinformatics etc. The courses not only give an in-depth view (Theory and practical) of
different branches, but also equip the students to face the new challenges of plantworld.The Botanical Society of the department “Vasundhara” organizes various inter and intra college activities to promote and encourage formal and informal education about plants. To accomplish the mission the society organizes special lectures,quizzes, excursions to biodiversity parks and academic institutions.On completion of the course the graduates can look for further specialization in the field of their interest through post graduation or for opportunities in the applied fields of Botanical Survey, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry(IFS),Flori/Horticulture, Medicinal plants, etc. The faculty comprises dedicated, eminently qualified teachers expert in their respective field of specializations, also proficient both in theoretical and practical aspects with distinguished publications to their credit. The department is a part of Star college project awarded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and
Technology, Government of India.
