PRIZES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Meritorious and outstanding students are duly recognized in the college with various kinds of awards. The basic aim is to encourage the students towards excellence and to ensure that achievements of the students do not go unrecognized. The  various categories of prizes are Proficiency Prizes, Merit Scholarships and Instituted Prizes. Proficiency prizes are awarded year wise to students in each subject for their performance in the Annual University Examinations. Merit scholarships are awarded for achievements in certain special areas as well as to students who have secured I, II or III  Position in the University Exam i nations of the previous year. Any further details regarding prizes can be obtained from the Teacher-in-Charge of the concerned Department.

Daulat Ram College Prizes

  • For the all round best student of year

  • Mahendra Nath Gupta Award in recognition of excellence instituted by the Daulat Ram College Society (Trust) in honour of Late Shri Mahendra Nath Gupta, Ex-Chairman of the College awarded to any person(s)/Department of the College who bring(s) laurels to the College.

  • Shakuntala Chadha Memorial Award for getting highest marks in I year & II year combined for B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry instituted by Mrs. Lalita Chadha.

  • Shri Asa Nanda Memorial Silver Medal to be awarded to a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany II year for securing highest marks in 1 st year examination instituted by Dr. Kanan Nanda.
  • Prof. Madan Mohan Prasad Memorial Prize to be awarded to a student securing highest marks in Economics in B.Com. (Hons.) I and II year combined with 1 st division in both the years instituted by Dr. (Mrs.) Meera Lal.
  • Shri Yogesh Nandan Sinha Memorial Prize awarded to a student securing highest marks with a minimum of 60% in second year Economics Hons. (I and II year combined) instituted by Dr. Mrs. S. Thakur.
  • Teacher’s Memorial Prize instituted by the teachers of Daulat Ram College in the memory of teachers who passed away during their service. The prize is awarded to a student for securing 1 st, 2nd or 3rd position in the University in the final year examination in B.A. (Hons. & Pass), B.Com (Hons. & Pass) & B.Sc. (Hons. & General).
  • Prize instituted by Dr. Shail Sivashankar in memory of Smt. Sushila Devi to be awarded to a student of B.Sc. Hons. Zoology Illrd year for securing highest marks in paper IV (Ecology & Zoogeography).
  • Prize instituted by Dr. Shail Sivashankar in memory of Miss Vinod Sharma to be awarded to a meritorious vision impaired (Blind) student of B.A. Pass/Hons/B.Com. Pass for securing the highest marks in 1 st year.
  • Prize Instituted by Dr. Malathi Subramanian, Principal, in memory of her mother Mrs. Sundara Iyengar to be awarded to ‘All round best student’ of third year from Humanities on the basis of the results of I and II years combined (minimum of 60% marks in aggregate) and extra curricular activities.
  • Prize Instituted by Dr. Malathi Subramanian, Principal, in memory of her mother Mrs. Sundara Iyengar to be awarded to ‘All round best student’ of third year from Science stream on the basis of the results of I and II years combined (minimum of 60% marks in aggregate) and extra curricular activities.
  • Prize instituted by Dr. Malathi Subramanian, Principal, in memory of her mother Mrs. Sundara Iyengar to be awarded to ‘All round best student’ of third year from Commerce stream on the basis of the results of I and II years combined (minimum of 60% marks in aggregate) and extra curricular activities.
  • Prize instituted by Dr. Gurpinder Chopra in memory of her mother-in-law Sardarni Pushpinder Kaur, to be awarded to a meritorious student of B.Com IlIrd year (Honours or Pass) selected on the basis of academic merit (at least 60% in 1 st and 2nd year taken together), regularity in attendance, curricular and extra curricular activities.
  • Prize instituted by Dr. Renu Saxena to be awarded to a student of Zoology Hons III year for securing highest marks in 1 year and II year combined.
  • Dr. Rama Saraf Memorial Prize, one each for I and II year student of vocal music, securing highest marks in B.A. Prog, subject to a minimum of 60%, instituted by Mr. Sunil Saraf.

Merit Scholarships

A. Awarded by the college

  • Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship awarded for to the students of II year & III year for securing one of the first three positions in the University examination of the previous year.

B. lnstituted Scholarships

  • Dr. Balmukund Tandon Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student of II Yr. English Hons. for securing highest marks (minimum 58% in 1 st year English (Hons.)) instituted by Ms. Sushma Tandon.
  • Smt. Vidyawati Kapur Scholarship awarded to the best blind student of the year instituted by Mrs. Nirmal Sethi.
  • Smt. Ganga Laxmi Dutt Joshi Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student of III year English Hons. for securing highest marks (min 58%) in II year instituted by Dr. V Joshi.
  • Kum. Kanta Sharma Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student currently in M.A. (Previous) Hindi on the basis of her performance in the three years of B.A. (Hons) Hindi in the college with at least 60% marks in the aggregate with all papers including subsidiaries cleared and no essential repeat in any paper, instituted by Dr. S.D. Trivedi.
  • Shri Sultan Chand Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student of B.Com (Hons) II year who secures the highest percentage of marks being above 70 (aggregate of internal and external in all the papers) in the college in B.Com (Hons.) 1 st year University examination in the first attempt in the year immediately preceding, instituted by Shri Sultan Chand Trust.
  • Shri Sultan Chand Memorial Scholarship awarded to a student of B.Com (Hons) III year who secures the highest percentage of marks being above 70% (aggregate of internal and external in all the papers) in the college in B.Com (Hons.) II year University examination in the first attempt in the year immediately preceding, instituted by Shri Sultan Chand Trust.
